"Moscow Under Construction. Complete catalogue of Architecture 1917–1941" presents over 6,200 buildings and complexes in Moscow, spanning all architectural styles from 1917 to 1941—including the avant-garde, post-constructivism, and neoclassicism. It brings together every known structure from this period, ranging from world-famous icons of constructivism to thousands of buildings introduced into academic discourse for the first time. The entries are organized by architectural typology and include attributions based on archival and published primary sources; each entry provides precise dating and identifies the commissioning client, while most also name the architect. The book opens with an extensive overview of key scholarly achievements in the study of post-revolutionary architecture, a critical analysis of existing challenges and research gaps, and a proposal for future inquiry based on modern methodologies and the now-accessible body of factual and documentary evidence. A comprehensive system of indices—covering architects, engineers, and artists (1,725 names), developers (353 entities), and design organizations (223)—along with a detailed atlas, makes this volume both a practical research tool and a guidebook. The majority of the 178 illustrations are published here for the first time.
